Depending on when your well was drilled or how much casing was used in your well, perforation may be needed when you have your well sealed to prevent ground water contamination. Perforation is determined after the pump is pulled from the well and after the casing is measured. If the well casing goes more than 10 feet into the bedrock or confining layer and it is not neat cement grouted then you would have to perforate. Perforating is done with a hydraulic tool that gets lowered into the well and pokes holes into the casing so that when the well is grouted the grout seeps into the bedrock and/or confining layers. We have the capability of perforating 3” to 20” wells.
